We’re just opening our new shop Backwater Bowfishing, here in Gurley AL. I’m looking for some summer time help for somebody to be here in the shop a few hours a day. We are located in northern Alabama so we need somebody local with their own transportation.

Job would run June - August or somewhere in that time range. It would be Monday - Friday for a few hours a day, probably 4 or 5 hours. Schedule can be very flexible. Our business mainly consists of online/catalog sales, so I need somebody mainly to pack boxes and fill orders to have them ready for me. I do a lot of my work at night so I’m in need of someone to be there during the day. So like I said the duties would be mainly shipping/receiving and dealing with walk in customers, which will be very few. We have TV/internet here so you can just hang out if nothing is going on. I figure it would be a good opportunity for a young person, college or high school age, who’s interested in the outdoors, archery, hunting, fishing, etc to have a pretty cool summer job and learn some things about it from me as well.

Here’s a few requirements/preferences:

-Minor computer skills, be able to navigate Windows, MS Office, type, just some very basic computer skills
-Preferably someone who likes the outdoors, hunting, fishing, etc, but not a neccessity
-Any knowledge of bowfishing/archery hunting is a huge plus
-Someone eager to learn and work hard
-Someone who can work unsupervised and still get the job
-Trustworthy and excited about working there

Now the pay won’t be that much, but it won’t be a very hard job and I think it would be a pretty cool summer job for anybody interested in that sort of thing.

Well we have some big exciting news on something we’ve been working on for a while. Thanks to our outstanding growth and our awesome customers, we’re making a dramatic expansion into a new facility.

I’m proud to announce the grand opening of our new store on May 31st. We have a new building which we have been remodeling and customizing over the last month or so and things are about finished up. This will be a state of the art bowfishing/archery shop with full bow setup and repair, a definite one of a kind. With this new facility we’ll be able to offer even more services, more products, and an even greater level of service. It’s gonna be a big step up for us and the world of bowfishing. I have really been pumped about it.

The official grand opening will be May 31st, 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM. I’d like to invite everybody here to come out and join us. We’ll be having food, giving away door prizes (lots of bowfishing stuff), and having some big time in store discounts. It’s gonna be a big deal!

I want to personally thank all of our amazing customers here, you guys are what has made this all possible, and without you we wouldn’t be able to keep doing what we do. Also my wife has been amazingly helpful and patient in getting this new phase going and does great work for us. And also I can’t thank Lisa Dunkle, our customer service expert, enough for the outstanding job she does. You couldn’t ask for a harder worker and more knowledgeable person to work for you. All of our staff does an outstanding job and I’m very proud of all of them. I’ve been very blessed and fortunate to do something I truly enjoy.

We have some more things coming and some big time things planned for 2009, it just keeps getting better!

Got a new product just to hit the market, pretty slick too!  It’s the new Mudkat spinning reel guide.  The spinner guide is designed to help spinning reels last longer by taking some of the stresses of fish fighting off the reel gears. It also saves the shooters hands by acting as a line puller. A few wraps around the front guides will be enough to pull any arrow out of the mud.

The guide is created out of 10 gauge aluminum and the precision of a CNC machine. The space age plastic guides allows the free flow of the line without loss of arrow speed.

As a parent of two small boys myself, I believe that the youth are the future of our sport. We want to get as many youth involved as we can and we want to help make this possible by providing one child a complete bowfishing setup to help pave the way for another life long bowfisherman.

That’s my oldest boy Hudson in the picture He’s definitely got it in his blood!

Here’s the rules:
Children or their parents, mentors, etc can submit one story along with pictures, video, whatever you like about a bowfishing experience for a child age 13 or under. This can be a first bowfishing trip, biggest fish, whatever they think is memorable. Contest will run April 1st through July 31st and a winner will be chosen then. Winner will be featured on our website and 2009 catalog. Just email your stories and pictures to contact@backwaterbowfishing.com and if you have video you can mail it in to us on a DVD.
